Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding With Kara Mueser

Kara has been riding and competing with horses since she was 5 years old, has been an OT for 3 years and utilizing Hippotherapy in her practice for the last 2.5 years. Kara loves sharing her passion for horses through Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding for all populations. Kara achieved her Bachelors in Exercise Science from Towson University and Masters in Occupational Therapy from Radford University. Kara has a full time job in Inpatient Psychiatry and finds the immense value in what horses can provide people for finding the balance between mental health and physical health. Kara is grateful for the opportunity to serve her community and looks forward to building a long-lasting relationship with you and your family.

Hippotherapy vs Therapeutic Riding

Hippotherapy - must be completed by a licensed OT/PT/SLP utilizing horse movement to benefit physical and mental health/therapy goals of the client with assistance from volunteers. 

Therapeutic Riding - An adaptive/recreational/sport activity, not therapy. Therefore, it is not covered by insurance. TR is completed by an instructor in conjunction with volunteers as needed to teach clients how to ride and care for their therapy horses.
